Mobile Offshore Production Systems

Mobile Offshore Production Systems (MOPS) offer a cost-effective alternative to conventional fixed platforms for a broad range of field applications. A MOPS is readily movable and can be floated onto a field and installed complete, ready to produce oil.  All construction work can be performed at a shipyard or dock facility. When the field is depleted, the MOPS can be removed quickly and inexpensively and redeployed to another field.

The three most common types of MOPS units are:

  1. the tanker-based floating production, storage and offloading system (FPSO);
  2. the semisubmersible-based floating production system (FPS);
  3. the jackup-based production unit (JPU)

Oceaneering can provide each type of MOPS unit as well as complete operations services on advantageous leasing terms. A leased MOPS allows an oil company to minimize front-end investment in the production system and postpone payments until a field is onstream generating cash flow. A leased MOPS also gives an oil company great latitude in managing risks associated with any field development project.

Oceaneering offers flexible commercial terms and fast-track, on-budget delivery for MOPS units converted from existing vessels or drilling rigs. Our project management systems assure our Customers that MOPS conversions and operations will be performed to world-class standards for quality, safety and environmental protection.
