The Oliver E. Buckley Prize is the the most prestigious prize in solid state physics. It has a long list of distinguished recipients - many of whom later won the Nobel Prize. Prof. Laughlin won the Buckley Prize in 1986 shortly after receiving the Lawrence Award for Physics.
