Abstract |
Fundamental theoretical and experimental research is performed in the area of quantum information science. The research in particular focuses on fundamental aspects of quantum cryptography, such as development of new quantum cryptographic protocols and their security, generation, transmission and detection of photonic qubits for cryptographic purposes, and manipulation of solid-state qubits for quantum information processing. The research is aimed to construct, within a few years, a quantum cryptographic system that performs the quantum key distribution task safely and efficiently over the distance of 20 km or more.
