Hwang Supporters Condemn MBC Investigative Report
MBCs investigative program PD Diary is paying the price for digging the dirt on cloning pioneer Prof. Hwang Woo-suk in an edition this week, with supporters of the geneticist starting an online campaign to boycott products by sponsors of the show.

On Tuesday, PD Diary reported in depth on revelations that junior researchers in Hwangs team donated ova for a 2003 project and other human egg cells were bought for research. Hwang resigned all official posts over the scandal on Thursday.

Four out of the 10 companies whose commercials are aired before and after the program -- Woolim C&C, DHL Korea, Pyungan Textile and Shinil Construction - say they will withdraw their advertising in the slot.

Flooded with complaints from customers, another four - Kookmin Bank, Woori Bank, Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance and HSBC - are considering doing the same.

A Korea Broadcasting Advertising Corporation staffer said, A bank contacted us to move its commercial, and lots of other sponsors want to pull theirs as well. Given that the online boycott is gathering strength, its uncertain if the program can keep the remainder.
